VSee Retreat At Don Pedro Lake

One of the highlights of life at VSee is the annual wakeboarding trip at Don Pedro Lake, which was just this past weekend.  We rent a houseboat and pack as many people into it as is advisable and then set off with a whoop and a holler.  This year we totaled 30+ people on a boat with 2 bathrooms – it worked surprisingly well.  It was a great time of team bonding, relaxing, and having fun together.  It turns out that we not only have adventurers on the VSee staff, but we also have some chefs and photographers as well!

Steve’s Galbi (Korean Grilled Short Ribs)

2 1/2 lbs beef short ribs, sliced thin
1 medium pear, peeled, cored and chopped
6 cloves of garlic
2 teaspoons of chopped fresh ginger
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
6 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
3 scallions chopped thin

Notes:
* Asian pears work fine too, and you can use apples and/or omit vinegar if you want the meat less tender
* I usually use low-sodium soy, but on the boat I used a regular sodium wheat-free soy sauce
* Puree the garlic, ginger and pear in a blender or food processor then mixed everything with the beef.  Marinade a few hours or overnight then grill or broil.
