VSee CEO, Dr. Milton Chen just returned from a whirlwind speaking tour in Asia including the keynote for Health 2.0 Japan, talks at the Ataneo University Medical School (one of the top schools in the Philippines), and the 3rd International Conference on Telemedicine in Guiyang, China.

Telemedicine in China

Telemedicine and telehealth are especially generating a lot of interest in China. The 19th National Congress recently adopted “Medical Improvement” as one of the pillars of its development strategy indicating government support for such projects. In fact, there is already a telemedicine network established between certain hospitals to help smaller hospitals in rural areas to help solve difficult cases in a timely manner. There is direct communication between the doctors as well as use of AI in medical diagnosis and medical image analysis.

A Telemedicine Robot

VSee also met Real Robot, a medical robot developed by Artificial Intelligence and Telemedicine Laboratory, Institute of Automation,Chinese Academy of Sciences.  It is part of the “Bian Que AI Telemedicine Diagnosis System” which includes the robot, remote diagnosis, and AI image and text processing, which Dr. Shi from Global MD demo-ed during his talk.

Real Robot

The telemedicine robot provides audio, video, real-time control, voice case and access to various types of intelligent diagnosis and treatment equipment.  The robot can help the nurses in the ward by connecting the patient to the doctor directly by high-definition of video and the doctors can control the robots to move around to examine the patient. It can convert the conversation between the doctors and patient to text real time and store the case into the medical database. It also can run to different departments to retrieve the patient’s medical data, for example, x-ray images.

Amazingly, the robot only costs 1600 USD. As a partner, VSe will be exhibiting Real Robot at ATA 2018 in April. Join our newsletter list to get updates on talks & demos in our ATA exhibit!
