What is VSee?
VSee is a flexible and intuitive video collaboration software that supports application sharing, desktop sharing, movie sharing, file transfers, USB device sharing, and remote camera control. VSee is designed to be scalable and manageable. It's extremely low bandwidth, requiring only a fraction of the bandwidth of Skype, WebEx, Polycom, Tandberg, Adobe, Cisco, etc., and works well with 3G/EVDO mobile broadband networks. (It's also great for talking to Grandma and your cousin at the same time!)
Where is the Mac version?
Coming very soon. We promise!
Why use VSee?
VSee just works. Unlike other video conferencing options that break easily and take hours of training, VSee is easy to download, easy to use, and works consistently.
How much does VSee cost?
VSee is free for noncommercial use. For all others, please see our Pricing page.
What software do I need to use VSee?
Only the VSee download, found here.
What hardware do I need to use VSee?
A computer, a webcam, speakers, and a mic. Most laptops and netbooks come with built-in webcams, speakers, and microphones. These are perfectly good to get you started. However, for the best experience, we recommend external USB cameras and microphones. We've posted an Audio/Video setup guide with our recommendations. Click here for the guide.
What operating systems does VSee support?
VSee currently supports XP, Vista, and Windows 7. The Mac version is coming soon.
What are the system requirements?
This depends on your usage scenario. For 3-way calls on netbooks, you will need a 1.6 GHz or faster CPU and 512 MB or more of memory. For up to 10-way calls, a 2+GHz dual core CPU and 2 GB memory are required.
How much bandwidth do I need?
A good rule of thumb is 150 Kbps per participant. For example, a two-way call requires 300 Kbps to maintain quality. This is a very small amount compared to most other video tools.
How many people can I VSee with at a time?
This depends on two factors: CPU speed and available bandwidth. Please see What are the system requirements? above about the CPU, and How much bandwidth do I need? about bandwidth.
Can I use VSee to call a telephone?
Not at this time.
Can I use VSee to record my session?
Yes. Go to Menu> Record. Give the recording a name and save it to your computer. Once you click 'Save' the recording will begin. To stop recording go to Menu> Record.
Can I import VSee contacts from my email applications?
We are currently working on an Outlook plugin and will soon branch out to other email applications.
Can I use VSee if I don't have a camera?
Absolutely. VSee works very well for text and audio-only collaboration.
How can I control my volume?
Go to Menu> Audio> Settings> and use the microphone volume control.
How can I control the volume of the person I'm calling?
When your cursor is over that participant?s video window, you will see a volume control slider in the lower left corner. For more information on controls during a call, please refer to the User's Manual.
When I talk to someone I hear an echo; how do I make that go away?
You are hearing an echo because the microphone of either you or someone you are talking to is picking up sound from the speakers and creating a feedback loop. To eliminate echo the responsible party must either wear headphones or use a USB speakerphone. If you are not using headphones, it is always better to use the same device for both input and output of audio than to use the microphone on the camera. Please see the Troubleshooting Guide for more information.
Can I mute my video and mic?
When you place your cursor over your own video window, you will see a camera and microphone icon in the lower left corner. Clicking on the camera mutes your camera. Clicking on the mutes your microphone. Clicking on them again turns mute off. For more information on controls during a call, please refer to the User's Manual.
What do I do if I forget my password?
There is a “Forgot Password?” link in the login dialogue box. Click it and follow the prompts.
I entered my password correctly but VSee says I haven't. What should I do?
VSee is case sensitive. Make sure your caps lock is off. If VSee continues to say that you have entered your password and user name incorrectly please contact support@vsee.com.
VSee is no longer working right, what can I do to fix it?
Sign onto your computer as an administrator. Then uninstall and reinstall VSee. If the problem is not resolved, check that VSee is automatically updating to the most recent version. If not, uninstall VSee, download the newest version from our home page, and reinstall. You can also search our User Forum, Blog, this FAQ, and the Troubleshooting Guide for a solution.
