Telehealth conference

Improve the patient experience. Increase adoption. Get implementation tips. #TFSS

This year’s American Telemedicine Association conference attendance dropped from nearly 6000 in previous years to 4600; exhibitor booths declined from 258 to 226. Why is telehealth failing to live up to its promise? Why hasn’t it had the impact of an Amazon, Facebook, or AirBnB on healthcare?

The first wave of telehealth companies – Teladoc, American Well, MDLIVE, Doctor On Demand trailblazed seeing a doctor on your phone or computer at any time. These pioneering companies have brought telehealth into our collective conscience. Yet, telehealth adoption continues to be sluggish, potential cost savings have not been fully realized, and more doctors are feeling burned out and fed up with healthcare. A study of 300,000 patients found that telehealth actually increases patient spending. Another JAMA tele-dermatology study found the quality of care mixed with only 54% of visits adherent to guidelines. After 30 years of trying to make telemedicine work, what are we still missing?

This Conference explores the second wave of telehealth — reimagine healthcare. Learn why Amazon, Walmart, and Optum will become the largest healthcare provider in the next 5 years. See new revenue models for decreasing costs and making doctors happy.  Discover the framework for pulling telehealth out of the “trough of disillusionment” and into the era of mass adoption.
