Dr. Tony Linares is the Regional Vice President and Medical Director for Anthem National Accounts. He provides medical leadership in patient care management and population based care including health promotion strategies for large employers. He leads consumer health education forums including Doc Talk webinars, serves as medical advisor for digital therapeutics and musculoskeletal health product innovations for National Accounts.
Prior to joining Anthem, Dr. Linares served as the Vice President for Medical Affairs at Lumetra, a Medicare Quality Improvement Organization in San Francisco. He directed patient safety and performance improvement initiatives for hospitals and physician practices in California.
Dr. Linares served in the National Health Service Corps of the Public Health Service and is a strong advocate of primary care for underserved populations and improving health disparities. Over the past 20 years he has served in diverse leadership roles which include the founding medical director for California’s Department of Managed Health Care to oversee quality and consumer protection for all HMO members in California.
Dr. Linares received his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University, completed a residency in family practice at the University of California, Davis and has served as adjunct faculty at Stanford School of Medicine, Center for Health Policy & Primary Care and the University of California Davis, Primary Care Research Center.
Dr. Linares is currently enrolled in the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine (AIHM) fellowship program.
