One of the nation’s largest kidney dialysis providers achieved an 88% increase in successful telehealth visits after integrating VSee’s telehealth solution with Oracle Health EHR (formerly Cerner). This project highlights VSee’s ease-of-use for low‑tech patients, customizability for streamlined workflows, and fast EHR integration expertise (6 weeks of engineering work).

The Challenge

This leading kidney care provider serves mostly seniors and lower-income patients. With approximately 30% patient portal adoption and many patients lacking email access, patients struggled to complete the steps to join telehealth visits. Staff productivity was also affected by double scheduling in both Oracle Health EHR and VSee, and they lacked options in the EHR to personalize reminders and schedule pre-appointment device testing without cluttering the EHR schedule.

 

The Solution

VSee partnered closely with the provider’s IT and clinical teams to provide a custom telehealth solution integrated with the provider’s Oracle Health EHR.

Now, once an appointment is scheduled in the EHR, it automatically syncs with VSee, eliminating double entry. The team can customize appointment reminders and messages directly from the EHR. Providers can conduct a pre‑visit test call without creating an actual appointment in the schedule. 

Simpler Communications

Communication is simpler and clearer with separate internal and patient chat channels and offers one-click escalation options to phone or video. A digital queue with tagging, and automated notifications also supports smooth handoffs. 

Empowered Reporting and Configurations

Administrators can easily manage waiting rooms, users, scheduling, and generate custom analytics. 

Ongoing Support

Finally, VSee supported the entire rollout with onboarding and branded training and continues to provide ongoing training and support.

 

The Result

After a total of 6 weeks engineering effort, a previously complex process that depended on patient portal access is now a simple, user‑friendly system that even non‑tech‑savvy patients can use with ease. Patients receive clear instruction and custom reminders before their visits, helping them feel prepared. The care team can create, track, and conduct telehealth appointments directly in the EHR without clutter or extra manual work, allowing the team to focus more on what really matters.
