Telehealth took center stage in Naga City on October 25, 2025, as VSee joined the Philippine Tuberculosis Society in a meeting with former Vice President Leni Robredo (current mayor of Naga City). The courtesy call sparked important conversations on how technology can help strengthen healthcare in Naga City and beyond...

During the discussion, Mayor Robredo highlighted key healthcare challenges in Naga City, such as prenatal check-up rates—only 44% compared to the Department of Health’s 99% target. She also shared the city’s efforts to expand access through healthcare caravans (a.k.a. mobile units) and health insurer PhilHealth’s YAKAP project, which reimburses ₱1,700 (USD 29) per qualified patient to local government units delivering full primary care. Mayor Robredo also briefly mentioned an interest in enhancing TB screenings, maternal healthcare support, and data management—areas where VSee has already demonstrated practical expertise.

For example, VSee and MIT-founded tech partner Remedi, Inc., recently piloted pop-up TB screenings with its ultra portable AI-powered X-ray devices along with satellite provider iOne Resources, who enabled VSee EMR connectivity. Earlier this year, VSee’s secure, user-friendly AI telemedicine EMR was also used to pilot prenatal teleconsultations in remote mountainous regions of Mindanao with OB-GYNS at Ateneo de Zamboanga University. Working together, these innovations could bridge gaps in primary care access and empower local healthcare teams to reach more residents efficiently.

VSee CEO, Milton Chen, PhD, said, “We are continually inspired by the efforts of local governments like Naga City to deliver quality and accessible healthcare services. It was a privilege for our team to discuss digital health initiatives with Mayor Robredo. With VSee’s history of partnering with local government units and academic institutions like Ateneo Medical School to provide telehealth to underserved communities in the Philippines. We believe VSee is the ideal partner for implementing the healthcare innovations that will expand access and strengthen local healthcare systems to make a positive impact for all Filipinos.”

VSee is committed to driving digital healthcare transformation across Southeast Asia, a rapidly growing market that reached USD 17 billion in 2024 and is expected to surge to USD 38.8 billion by 2033 (iMarc, 2024). The Philippines, with its digital health sector on track to exceed USD 1 billion by 2027 (Statista, 2024), stands at the forefront of this movement.

As local and national governments accelerate healthcare innovation, VSee hopes to take further steps in expanding access to quality medical services for millions of underserved Filipinos.
