VSee Philippines Medical Mission: Telemedicine Helps Orphans and Street Kids Fly

For the last few weeks, the VSee Manila Team has been busy prepping for a VSee medical missions trip in the Philippines. It’s been a super exciting opportunity for us to impact the community with the possibilities of telemedicine.  For this missions trip, we set up two health screening camps, July 14 and 16, to do live telemedicine screenings for patients. The first camp was held at the Gala Shelter (an orphanage for about 20 children) in Angono Rizal. Everything went beautifully!

We screened about 35 people. We had a volunteer nurse come with us, and our two doctors (a pediatrician and an internist) were remote. Using the devices from our telemedicine kits, we were able to live stream images for skin, eye, and other conditions (see pictures below). Our Cloud Clinic has so much potential to be the telemedicine platform and EMR for developing countries.

The theme of the event was “Telemedicine Helps Orphans and Street Kids Fly.” We were so touched by how well-behaved the kids were, About 13 girls share 2 rooms; same for boys. They each do their own laundry and clean up after themselves. They started flying paper airplanes – so we caught the moment below.

Stay tuned for more updates on our mission trips.
