Tips to jumpstart your telemedicine program for addiction — Jeremy Martinez MD, Matrix Institute on Addictions

Addiction treatment is expected to grow to a $42 billion business by 2020. Like the rest of healthcare, addiction facilities are turning to telemedicine for potential ways to enhance treatment and recovery for people. However, adoption has been slowed by implementation costs, confidentiality regulations, telemedicine reimbursement, providers’ unfamiliarity with technology, and a lack of implementation models. Jeremy Martinez, MD,  discussed how Matrix set up their telemedicine program and the challenges they faced in doing telemedicine. Learn:

  • why addiction treatment must move online (physician incentives, cost savings, policy, technology development…)
  • how effective is online addiction treatment and what are the limitations
  • steps to preparing your organization to start providing addiction recovery services online

Let’s continue the discussion in real life at  Telehealth Failures and Secrets to Success Conference, Sept 20-22, Silicon Valley!
