VSee CEO Milton Chen and VSee Director of Telehealth Becky Wai traveled to Kurdistan, Iraq this week to participate in a week-long humanitarian surgical and medical outreach trip sponsored by Operation Hope (OH), World Surgical Foundation (WSF), American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA), The American Kurdish Medical Group (AKMG) and Otorhinologic Research Institute (ORI). The goal of the medical mission is to bring expert surgical and medical training and the latest treatments to locals in Kurdistan through tele-medicine, tele-education, and innovative technologies.
Milton and Becky began their trip with a presentation at the American Kurdish Medical Group Symposium at the University of Duhok, Kurdistan on Sunday, January 19, 2014. They got to speak to a packed room of surgeons and medical specialists about the field deployment of telemedicine for low resource areas with limited or no infrastructure.
VSee was also the tool of choice used to allow remote surgeon Dr. João Flávio Nogueira, give his presentation on Endoscopic Ear Surgery from where he was in Brazil.
Milton and Becky will also be a part of several telemedicine demonstrations throughout Kurdistan including a clinic at the Syrian refugee camp of Duhok, and expert remote instruction in the operating room in the Azadi Teaching Hospital.
